Let Movement be the Medicine to Set you Free
Our longing is to love who we are right now, and to be all we can be. Sometimes it feels as if there is a part of us that is our own worst enemy.
I wonder if you know those days….? A to do list as long as your arm, and a totally empty day. Sounds like a good match. But the empty day somehow gets frittered away….. Watching another episode of something or other on Netflix…. Refreshing the Facebook feed one more time, and getting distracted by some ‘fascinating’ article on something or other…. Eating something or other….. etc…. And all of these “something or others” distract us from our own becoming. And then at end of the ‘unproductive’ day, loving ourselves seems like an impossible dream.
Lately I have come to think that those ‘unhelpful’ patterns are actually the key that can unlock the door to freedom.
“What is addiction really? It is a sign, a signal, a symptom of distress. It is a language that tells us about a plight that needs to be addressed” Alice Miller in Breaking Down the Wall of Silence
“Addiction” may seem a strong word. But if we can bring our loving attention to the plight that we are in, when we sabotage ourselves, rather than thinking this is just a matter of weak will, then we can soften into tenderness and live fully in freedom.
Movement Medicine holds the hope of so many tools and maps to support us to dance our own true Dance. We will have time to dance and talk and share. And to drop into Ceremony, offering all of it to the support of the mystery that lies at the heart of everything.
